TIR stands for ‘Transorts Internationaux Routiers’ or ‘International Road Transports’. This is a customs convention for the transport of goods between countries. The TIR transit system includes the use of secure vehicles or containers. TIR vehicles or containers are ones which no goods can be removed or intruded into without breaking the customs seal or leaving obvious traces of tampering. TIR fixings, TIR staples and TIR steel cable are used in truck tarpaulins and covers to secure the vehicle.
